Which files can I upload?
Video files in MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or 3GP. On a phone, Attach (or Add a video) opens your photo gallery and camera as well as your files; videos straight from an iPhone or Android phone work as they are. Each plan sets the largest file you can upload (up to 20 GB) and a total storage limit. A file that's too big for your plan, or that doesn't fit in the storage you have left, is stopped before the upload starts, with a message saying why and how to free space (see storage-and-deletion).
Where do I upload?
There is one window, Upload a video, and it's the same everywhere:
- Home: the Upload a video button opens the window right there on Home.
- Library: the gold Upload a video button, or drop video files anywhere on the page.
- A project: its upload button opens the same window, with that project chosen.
In the window, add files from this device, Google Drive or Dropbox. Keep it in picks the project the videos go into; it's optional. (The old Create page and the "+ Create" button are gone; old links to them open Video tools.)
How uploads work
Big files are sent in parts straight to secure storage, several at a time, and each part is retried automatically if your connection drops, so a flaky network doesn't restart the whole upload. Keep the page open until the upload finishes.
What happens after upload
When an upload finishes, the window shows each video with what you can do next: Finish my video, Direct my video (the AI Director), Video editor, Join with another and All tools. If you uploaded two or more, it also offers Join these N videos into one → Join them. See them in Library is at the bottom. Everything you upload shows in the Library; new uploads have a New tag for a day.
Davnai checks each recording (length, size, format, where the silences are) and makes a thumbnail. Recordings with sound are then transcribed automatically, and the AI prepares edit suggestions. The card shows each step (Transcribing…, AI editing…). You can keep working meanwhile.
Why is there a "preview copy"?
Some recordings don't play smoothly in browsers (iPhone HEVC video, 4K, very high bitrates). For those, Davnai makes a light 720p copy used only for playing and reviewing. Downloads and all edits always use your original, at full quality. The preview copy doesn't count toward video minutes.
My upload failed or got stuck
Check your connection and upload again; parts that already arrived are retried automatically while the page is open. If you closed the page mid-upload, start the upload again. If a complete file keeps failing, the file may be damaged: try exporting it again from your camera or editor.
Can I add files from Google Drive or Dropbox?
Yes. In the Upload a video window (on Home, in the Library and in a project), and next to Upload a picture (Image Studio, and Pictures when you add a picture to a post) there are Google Drive and Dropbox buttons. Each opens its own window: pick the file there. Davnai copies it straight from Google Drive or Dropbox into your private storage, so a big video doesn't go through your phone or computer (or use your phone's data). You'll see "Copying from Google Drive" with how far it's got; you can leave the page and it carries on. When it's done the recording is checked and transcribed like any upload. Davnai only opens the file you pick: it never sees the rest of your Drive or Dropbox. The same limits apply as for uploads (the plan's largest file and storage). When you choose a video for a post or an automation, the picker's Videos tab has the same buttons: the video is copied into your Library (a new project named after the file) and chosen for you when it's in; the copy carries on if you close the picker.
