How long are my files kept?

Recordings and edited videos are deleted automatically after a number of days that depends on your plan (the Pricing page always shows the current numbers). Today:

PlanOriginal recordingsEdited videos
Free7 days after upload7 days after they're made
Starter30 days30 days
Pro60 days60 days

Every edited video gets its own full period from the day it's made, even if its recording is deleted sooner. Pictures, your logo and music you uploaded are never deleted automatically. Items in Recently deleted are removed for good after 7 days.

Each item shows its date: cards show Deletes in N days as the date gets close, and Settings → Usage and storage shows the date next to every recording and edited video. Download anything you want to keep for good.

What happens if I change plan?

Your existing recordings and edited videos move to the new plan's days, counted from when each was uploaded or made.

  • Upgrade: they're kept longer straight away.
  • Downgrade: they're kept for less time, but never less than 7 days from the day you change, so you have time to download them. You'll get the usual reminder before anything is deleted.

Will I be warned before something is deleted?

Yes. We email you 3 days before a file is deleted and again the day before, and Home shows a note ("N recordings will be deleted soon") with Review. Nothing is deleted unless the first reminder went out at least 2 days earlier, and nothing is deleted while it's being edited.

Keep

⋯ → Keep for N days extends how long a file is kept (Pricing shows how long). It's on paid plans only; on Free the option doesn't appear. Stop keeping returns it to the normal date, always with at least 7 days' notice.

Deleting and restoring

Delete (in the ⋯ menu, or select several) moves items to Recently deleted. From there choose Restore, or Delete now to remove them for good. After 7 days they're removed automatically.

  • Deleting an original also removes its transcript and analysis files. Edited videos made from it are kept.
  • A recording that's being processed can't be deleted until the job finishes.

Storage used and storage limits

Each plan has a total storage limit (today: Free 5 GB, Starter 15 GB, Pro 25 GB; the Pricing page always shows the current numbers). Your recordings, edited videos, pictures, your own music and your voiceover takes count. Davnai's own working files don't (thumbnails, preview copies, the copy made when you edit an edited video again), and nor does anything in Recently deleted.

  • The plan card at the bottom of the menu opens This month, which shows your storage with a bar (amber from 80%, red from 95%); when storage is nearly full the card itself says so. Settings → Usage and storage shows it too.
  • When your storage is full, new uploads are stopped before they start, with a message saying how to free space.
  • A video that's already being made is allowed to finish even if it goes a little over, so you never lose a finished edit; new videos and pictures can't be made until you free some space.

How will I know my storage is running out?

Davnai tells you in four places, so you're never surprised:

  • Home → Davnai noticed shows "Your storage is 84% full" (from 80%) with a Manage storage button.
  • An email when storage passes 90% ("Your Davnai storage is nearly full") and another when it's full ("Your Davnai storage is full"), each with Manage storage and See plans. Each is sent once; it's sent again only after you free up space and storage fills up again. These emails are always sent (they can't be switched off).
  • A red banner at the top of every page when storage is full: "Your storage is full", saying uploads and new videos are paused until you free up space or move to a bigger plan, with Manage storage. Closing it hides it until you close the browser tab; it comes back while storage is still full.
  • This month (the plan card at the bottom of the menu) and Settings → Usage and storage show the bar.

Davnai Agent and connected AI apps (asking for your usage) also say when storage is 80% full or more.

How do I free space?

Open Settings → Usage and storage (or click the storage bar at the bottom of the menu). Your files are listed largest first. Download the edited videos you want to keep, then delete them, one at a time or several at once. Deleting frees space straight away: recordings and edited videos go to Recently deleted for a few days (they don't count there and can be restored); pictures and music are deleted for good. Upgrading your plan also gives you more space.
