A button does nothing, or I can't sign in, right after an update

When a new version of Davnai goes live, a page you already had open still runs the old version. Davnai notices this and loads the page again by itself (you may briefly see "Davnai was just updated"). If a button still does nothing, reload the page (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac), or close the tab and open Davnai again. Nothing you saved is lost.

"Paused for a short while by the Davnai team"

Sometimes the team switches a part of Davnai off for a few minutes (maintenance, or a service Davnai uses is down): for example uploads, making videos, Davnai Agent or posting to social media. Trying it then shows "… is paused for a short while by the Davnai team. Please try again a little later." Nothing you made is lost, jobs already running finish, and scheduled posts wait and go out once posting is back on. A banner at the top of the page may explain more.

Banners at the top of the page

The Davnai team sometimes shows a banner at the top of every page: news, a heads-up about maintenance or a problem. Its button (when it has one) opens more details. Close it with the ×; it stays closed in that browser.

A job says "Starting the editor" for a while

After a quiet period, the editor takes up to a minute to start. It then runs normally.

An edit or transcript failed

Use Try again (or Try transcribing again). A video that failed also has Try on another worker: it's made again on a different video worker (or a different kind of machine), in case that one had a problem. If it fails a second time with the same reason, contact support and mention the recording name. Failed work never counts toward video minutes.

My upload failed

Uploads retry each part by themselves, so a short drop in your connection doesn't stop them. If an upload still fails, check your connection and upload again; the file starts fresh. When an upload fails while you're online, the Davnai team is told automatically (no file or personal details are sent), and storage is checked every hour so a problem on our side is usually fixed before you notice it.

My video won't play smoothly in the browser

Large or iPhone (HEVC) recordings get a lighter preview copy a few minutes after upload. Downloads and edits always use the full-quality original.

My iPhone or Android video looks grey or washed-out

Phones often record in HDR. Davnai converts HDR to normal colour for every edited video, so colours and brightness look right on every phone and platform. The original upload keeps its HDR.

Joined video: the sound doesn't match the lips

Each clip's sound and picture are lined up and made exactly the same length before joining, so they stay in step however many clips you join. Videos joined before this fix (October 2026) can be joined again to fix them.

My edited video looks softer than the original

Enhance picture is off unless you switch it on: use it only for dark footage. Edited videos are made from the original in one pass at high quality, and are never made bigger than your recording.

The resized video is cut off

That's the Fill framing. Resize again with Blurred background or Solid background. See framing-and-backgrounds.

The transcript language is wrong

⋯ → View transcript → Wrong language? → Transcribe as…. See transcripts.

A thumbnail is black or shows a bad moment

Thumbnails use the best moment between about 12% and 85% of the video: a sharp, well-lit frame, preferably with a clear face (never the opening frames). To choose your own: Play the video, pause on a good moment and press Use this frame as thumbnail: the video pauses and asks you to confirm the frame and its time (press Keep watching to choose another). The player shows Updating… and then Thumbnail updated with a small picture of the new thumbnail (usually 10–60 seconds; a chosen frame goes ahead of other work); the card changes straight away. If it says the thumbnail couldn't be made, try again or contact support.

I can't delete a recording

It's being used by a job. Wait until the job finishes, then delete it.

A file disappeared

Check Recently deleted in the project (items stay there 7 days). Recordings and edited videos also expire after your plan's number of days (Free 7, Starter 30, Pro 60; longer with Keep on paid plans), after reminder emails. If it's neither, contact support.

I didn't get the confirmation or password email

Check spam and promotions folders, then request it again. Links open a page with a Continue button, which works in any browser.

The Video minutes number looks wrong

See video-minutes for exactly what counts. Numbers update when work completes; refresh Home.

The AI suggested Shorts but none were made

Ticking a moment only chooses it. Press Make Shorts (top right of the Make Shorts screen; on a phone at the bottom) to make them; they appear under Edited.

"Make my video" still shows after my video was made

Once a video exists, Finish my video shows View video at the top and the button at the bottom says Make again (for another version with different settings). Refresh the page if it still says Make my video.

Two videos have the same name

When you make the same thing again (for example split a recording twice), the new copies get a number: "Talk – Part 1 (2)". Open ⋯ → Details to see when and how each one was made.

Finding a video's ID for support

⋯ → Details on any recording or edited video shows its ID with a copy button, plus how and when it was made and its thumbnail's status. Quote the ID when you contact support.
