What it does

One screen to edit a video by hand: your video in the middle, tools on the left, the timeline at the bottom and the settings for whatever you tap on the right. It works for one video or several (they play one after another).

  • Split, trim and cut: put the playhead where you want and press Split (or S). Tap a part to choose it; drag its ends to trim; Delete removes it and the gap closes (right-click → Delete and leave a gap keeps a black, silent gap of that length instead). Undo and Redo (Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Shift+Z) go back up to 100 steps. Bring back everything cut in this video undoes all cuts on one video.
  • Cut several places at once: press Select sections (on a phone, Cut sections in the tools row), then drag across your video on the timeline over each part you don't want: each one turns red with its length. Mark as many as you like (or press I at a start and O at its end), tap the small x on one to keep it, then Cut all: they all go in one step, the gaps close, and one Undo brings them all back. To delete whole parts together, choose one and Shift-click or Ctrl-click (Cmd-click on a Mac) the others, then Delete.
  • Templates: the second tool on the left rail. Fifteen templates (Clean YouTube, Bold Shorts, Podcast, Tutorial, Business, Cinematic, Vlog, Product promo, Course lesson, Webinar highlights, Tech review, Luxe, Motivation, Storytime, Fun & playful). Pick one to see a one-line description and what it sets, then Use on my video. It changes the video straight away, like a caption style: The panel then says exactly what it did ("added 2 key points, cut 2 fillers and 8 pauses…"). Captions, graphics and cuts follow your words, so before the transcript is ready it says so: apply it again when it is. Your Brand Kit stays on top, every tool still works after, and Undo puts it all back. Edit with AI in this style also asks the AI Director for the deeper pass: b-roll (your clips first, then stock) and more on screen (with a plan open: Update the AI plan to it). Nothing is made until you approve. The template is kept with the edit.
    • Its graphics, placed as you speak: depending on the template, your name title near the start, key points where you signpost ("first", "the key thing", "here's the secret"), counters where you say a number, quote cards for strong lines, chapter cards where a new part begins, and a follow reminder part way through. They're marked ✦ on the timeline; change or delete any of them. Applying another template swaps the ones you haven't changed.
    • Cuts and transitions: it cuts pauses, fillers like "um", a word said twice and the mistakes Davnai found, at its pace, and splits long parts where a sentence ends, so even one continuous take gets a cut to put its transition on.
    • Captions in its style (on), the style of text already on the video, an intro and outro in its style (Shorts templates open straight on the hook; one picked from your library stays), a colour look, and music of its mood.
  • Pictures and clips: drag one from Media onto the timeline.
  • Add text on the video: Add text above the video (or press T, or click the video with Text & Motion open) puts a heading in the middle, ready to type: type on the video and press Enter. Subtitle and Body text add smaller ones. Select it to drag it, pull its corner to resize, and use the toolbar above it: the style (16: Your brand, Plain, Outline, Glow, Box, Highlight, Gradient, Pop, Editorial, Handwritten, Lower third, Label, Big number, Quote, Stamp, Neon, drawn in your brand colours), the font, A− and A+, the colour (automatic, white, black or your brand colour), Type to change the words, and Animate for how it comes in, moves while it's on (Gentle float, Pulse, Shimmer, Wiggle, Shake, Glow) and leaves. Double-click it to type again.
  • Ask the AI Director from the editor: the What do you want to make? box in the top bar (one recording at a time) sends your request to the Director; ideas show under it (Clean YouTube video, 3 Shorts, Cut the long pauses, Explain it with charts). The chat opens beside the editor and the plan lands on the timeline (its pieces are marked with the sparkle). Select a part of your video, a text or a picture and press Ask the Director on the video for changes to just that piece (Zoom in on me here, Add b-roll over this, Cut the pauses, Make this a Short, Explain it, or type your own). A piece the Director chose says why, with Keep or Remove. Style in the top bar picks the style for this video (with a plan open, the Director updates the plan to it). Nothing is made until you approve.
  • Is my edit saved? Under the video's name the top bar always says: Saved to your account, Saving…, Offline: saved on this device (it's sent to your account when you're back online) or Couldn't save with Try again. While it says Couldn't save, leaving the editor asks first. Your last edit comes back when you open it again.
  • The Director's progress: while the AI Director works on this video, a strip under the top bar shows where it is (Reading your video, Plan ready, Review changes, Approve, Making, Done) and what its plan puts in, with numbers (for example 14 cuts, Captions, 6 graphics, 4 b-roll clips, 9 transitions, Music). After Approve and make it follows the videos being made and stays on Done. Editing by hand shows no strip.
  • Reorder tracks: with two or more Graphics, Text or B-roll tracks, drag a track's name up or down onto another of its kind: they swap places, so what was underneath now sits on top (Undo puts them back).
  • The plan in the chat: with the editor open, the Director's plan in Davnai Agent is a short list of what's on your timeline; Show the full plan opens the rest.
  • Bigger video: the button at the top right of the video (or F) hides the tools and the panel and shortens the timeline, so the video fills the screen; press it again (or Esc) to go back.
    • Onto Your video: it's *put in*. Your video waits, the clip plays, then your video carries on. Davnai puts it at the end of the sentence and splits there for you.
    • Onto Over video: it shows while you talk. Drag it anywhere on the video and resize it from its corner, or choose a layout on the right: full screen, side by side, top and bottom, you in the corner (box or round), small on top of you, or pops in.
    • Or use the buttons on each picture: Over, Put in or Opening, at the playhead.
  • The panel on the right changes with what you tap. For a picture or clip over your video: Layout (Full screen, Side by side, Top and bottom, You in the corner, Small on top, Pops in, Instead of this part, each with a small picture), Position and size (X / Y in % and Size, or drag it), Shape (Box or Round), Timing (Starts at a time or the playhead; Length until the end of the sentence, the whole video, or any number of seconds; if a clip ends early, hold its last frame or play it again), its sound, Duplicate and Remove. A small picture or reaction can be turned (any angle, or Straight, 90°, -90°, 180°), and any picture over your video cropped (Left, Right, Top, Bottom). A clip or picture full screen over your video can Fill the screen (cropped to it) or Show all of it (bars where the shapes differ). Any picture or clip over your video can be made see-through (Opacity, 10 to 100 %) and mirrored (Left to right, Upside down, or Both); a small one or one full screen can blend with your video (Normal, Screen, Multiply, Overlay, Lighten, Darken: Screen lightens, good for light leaks and glows; Multiply darkens, good for textures). A small picture or clip can have keyframes: press Add keyframe here (or Keyframe in the toolbar), move the playhead, then drag it, resize it or change its Fade, and it moves, grows and fades smoothly between them. The diamonds jump the playhead to each one; Remove this one or No keyframes takes them off. The finished video matches the preview. For a clip you put in: How it plays (Pause and insert, Over your voice, Side by side, Clip big with you in the corner, Instead of this part, Explain it, each with a small picture; on a phone the two most used come first), How it will play (your video split around the clip), and Where it goes (at the playhead: the end of the sentence, before it, or exactly there). With nothing selected, Added to your video lists everything in the order it plays (the opening, the intro, what's put in or over it, the outro), each with Change.
  • Sound for each part (tap a part, then Sound): its own Volume (−24 to +12 dB), Fade in and Fade out, and As recorded to undo them. Detach sound at the end of a part: Next part starts early (its sound begins up to 2 seconds before its picture, a J-cut, using the sound from just before it) or This part carries on (your sound continues over the start of the next picture, an L-cut); Link again puts them back together. The timeline shows the volume on the Voice track and a gold J-cut or L-cut tag at the cut. The preview plays it and the finished video has it; the video keeps its length. Clean my voice is for the whole video.
  • Speed (tap a part, then Speed, or Speed under the video for the part at the playhead): Normal, Slow 0.5x, 0.75x, Fast 1.5x, Fast 2x, 4x, or the Speed slider for anything from 0.25x to 4x. The voice keeps its natural pitch. The part gets shorter or longer, and everything after it moves along; the timeline shows a gold tag like 2x on the part. Normal speed undoes it. Change the speed over time: Ramp up, Ramp down and Hero moment (slow in the middle), or the Start, Middle and End sliders; the graph shows the speed through the part. Reverse plays the part backwards (parts up to 30 seconds); a video worker prepares just that part for the preview in a moment, then the preview plays it backwards too.
  • Freeze frame (Freeze this frame on the Speed tab, or Freeze under the video): the frame at the playhead is held still, without sound, for 2 seconds; tap it on the timeline (it says FREEZE) to choose Hold for (0.5 to 10 seconds) or Remove the freeze. The part is split there; both halves keep its speed and sound.
  • Keyframes (text and graphics): on the Move tab, the diamond next to Left, Top, Size or Fade adds a keyframe at the playhead (or removes the one there); Add keyframe here adds one for all four. Once a value has keyframes, changing it, dragging the text on the video or pulling its corner at another moment adds the next one, and it moves between them. Choose how it moves from a keyframe to the next: Steady, Smooth, Ease in, Ease out, Bounce or Spring. The timeline shows gold diamonds on the piece and, when it's selected, a lane each for Left, Top, Size and Fade (tap a diamond to go there); the video shows the path it moves along as a dotted line. Clear removes them and keeps it where it is. The finished video moves exactly the same way (the same drawing is used).
  • Framing you (You in the corner, Side by side, Top and bottom, the round bubble): Zoom from your whole shot (100%) to a close-up (250%), drag inside your box on the video to choose what shows (scroll on it to zoom), and Keep my face centred, which finds your face and follows it if you move (recordings are looked at when they're uploaded; edited videos the first time you use it, which takes a minute; the finished video always follows it). Reset framing goes back to your whole shot; Use for every one copies the framing to every picture and clip that shares the screen with you. The preview and the finished video use the same framing. Zoom that changes during the moment comes later, with keyframes.
  • On the video: drag a picture to move it and pull any corner to resize. Dashed lines show when it snaps to the edges or the centre.
  • Timeline bar: Split, Delete, Duplicate (Ctrl+D) and Snap (pieces you move snap to the playhead, the parts' edges and the ends of sentences). While you drag a picture or clip over the timeline, a note says exactly what will happen ("your video splits at 6:04 and carries on after the clip. Adds 0:18").
  • Right-click any piece on the timeline: Split here, Delete and close the gap, Duplicate, Fade in and out, Replace with…, Use as the opening. On a part of your video also Speed…, Freeze this frame, Detach its sound… and Fade its sound in and out; Duplicate on a part plays a copy of it right after it (put in: your video waits).
  • On a phone: pinch the timeline to zoom, pinch inside your box to zoom you; the tools row has Split, Speed, Freeze, Volume, Transition, Colour, Layouts, Media, Text, Timing and Delete; the transition library opens as a sheet from the bottom with its groups as tabs.
  • Under the timeline: how many mistakes and long pauses Davnai found (nothing cut yet) and Review in Words.
  • Preview plays your video from the start as it will be made.
  • One live preview: the canvas plays the whole finished video on one clock: the opening, the intro, your video with its cuts, transitions, colour and shape, pictures and clips over it (playing, with their own sound when it's on), pictures and clips put into it (your video waits for their whole length), text and graphics, captions, then the outro. Drag the playhead anywhere, even inside the intro or a clip you put in, and you see that exact frame. If a part is still loading on a slow connection, "Loading the next part…" shows and it carries on by itself.
  • Your edit is saved with your account while you work (a few seconds after each change), so you can carry on on another computer or your phone; Start over (on the right, with nothing selected) clears it everywhere.
  • Words: everything said, in order. Cut a sentence or bring it back, or insert a clip after it.
    • Mistakes: Davnai marks them in red on the timeline. Nothing is cut until you choose: Cut selected, Cut all or Ignore the rest.
    • Pauses: only real quiet counts. Leave them, or shorten every pause to 1.5, 1 or 0.5 seconds.
  • How your video starts (the Opening tool, under More, or the + by Main video on the timeline): no opening, one of Davnai's strong moments, 3, 5 or 8 seconds from the playhead, or a clip or picture: choose one from your media or Find in Stock (a stock clip plays silent). The opening plays before the intro.
  • Text (no separate page): a library in your style and Brand Kit colours. Search, or pick a group (Intro and Outro have their own groups): Titles, Name titles, Key points, Lists, Counters & stats, Quotes, Callouts (an arrow or a ring pointing at something, with a label), Social, Chapters (the chapter number and title at the top, or a chapter card in the middle), Intro, Outro. Point at a card to see it move; click to add it at the playhead, or drag it onto the video (it goes where you drop it) or onto a Text track (at that moment). Select a text and drag the ends of its block on the timeline to change when it starts and how long it stays. It shows on the video exactly as it will be made; drag it to place it. On the right: Words (every line, what a counter counts and where it counts from, or use the words said at the playhead; every counter, Before → after, Progress ring, Countdown, Big number and the styles' Count up too, has How it counts: what is behind it, how long it counts, fast then slows, steady or springy, a bounce, glow or confetti at the end, its Font (your style's or one of the 20 caption fonts) and In time with your voice (it lands as you say the number); Tick sound adds soft ticks while it counts; for a counter, the words said at the playhead fill the number and what it means: "Use ₦4,000 and these words"), Style (another look of the same kind, the colour), Motion (speed; how it comes in: Fade, Rise, Slide in, Pop, Bounce, Typewriter, Word by word (with In time with your voice, each word shows as you say it), Letter by letter, Blur in, Wipe, Zoom in, Drop, Flip, Glitch, Highlight sweep; while it's on: Gentle float, Pulse, Shimmer, Wiggle; how it goes out: Fade, Fall, Slide out, Shrink, Blur out, Wipe, Erase words, Pop away; "Its own" keeps the look's designed movement; point at one to see it play in the small preview), Timing (starts, at the playhead; how long it stays, or Until the end of the sentence; Where: nine places (tap one of the nine boxes under Position and size in Move), top, middle or bottom at the left, centre or right, kept clear of the phone apps' buttons on tall videos, with a note when captions at the bottom would cover it; Size from 50% to 200%, or drag the corner handle on the video; Its own sound: its soft sounds on its beats, over your voice, off unless you switch it on). On a tall video a dashed frame on the video shows the area that stays clear. Duplicate and Remove.
  • Opening, intro and outro on the timeline: they sit at the two ends of the Main video track, in the order they play: the opening and the intro joined to its start, the outro to its end. Tap one to change or remove it. A missing intro or outro is a small + at that end of the track, and the + by the track's name adds any of them (the opening too). The clock and ruler count the whole video, intro and outro included.
  • Intro & outro (in Text, or tap the intro or outro on the timeline): In this video at the top shows the intro and outro on this edit, with Edit and Remove. Each look says Add to this video, or Added ✓ once it is on. The intro and outro panel shows its name with Added to this video, a length (0, 1, 2 or 4 seconds held), and for the outro What should people do next? (follow, subscribe, visit) with your handle. The intro plays before your video and the outro after it. Your saved comes first: the intros and outros from Brand Kit → Intros & outros; pick one and move on (changes you make here save back to it). Or click a look to start a new one; it shows on the video and on its own lane. The Countdown opener is first: 3, 2, 1, an effect on the last beat, then your welcome words ("Welcome to"), your channel name, a tagline and your logo, with a click on each number and a hit on the effect. On the right: Countdown (or Words): the countdown style (Film leader, Neon, Glitch, Bold slam, Smoke & light, Clean), the effect on 1 (Light burst, Flash, Shatter, Zoom through, Ink spread, Film burn, Glitch cut, Spin) and every line; Look (another intro or outro, keeping your words; the colour); Motion (speed, sound, your logo). Play the intro plays it with sound; pressing play at the start plays the opening, then the intro, then your video, and the outro at the end. Use on all my videos saves it as your standard intro or outro (new videos start with it; change it in Brand). Remove takes it off (Undo brings it back). When you make the video it is saved with your intros and outros.
  • Captions, Music, Look, Brand (logo, intro/outro, call to action) are tools on the left, and the same choices as everywhere else in Davnai.
  • Shape (a tool on the left; the shape button at the top opens it): Original, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9, and for a new shape how your video fills it: Fill (zoom and crop, drag to choose the part), Blurred background, or a solid colour (white, black or your brand colour). The video in the middle shows it.
  • Captions show on the video in the style you chose, a few words at a time. An edited video (for example a joined one) uses the words of the recordings it was made from, so captions, Words and openings work on it too.
  • Call to action: while Brand is open it stays on the video, in your colour and with the platform's own logo.
  • Opening: Play from the start (or Preview) plays the opening first, then your video from the beginning.
  • Quality (top bar, and again in Make video): 720p, 1080p, or 4K for a 4K recording. A smaller recording can be made at 1080p for crisper text and graphics (Starter and Pro). 4K is listed with the reason when your recording isn't 4K.
  • On smaller screens the tools and the selected piece's settings take turns on the side, so the video stays big; Back to returns to the tool.
  • Transitions on each cut: every cut on "Your video" has a small marker. Tap it to choose one of 55 transitions in ten groups: Hide the cut (Invisible cut, Punch cut), Frames and cards (Into the frame, Card flip, Zoom through, Deck, Panels, Tiles), Your brand (Brand sweep, Logo reveal, Brand shapes, Brand glow, Brand frame, Logo mask), Words (Word wipe, Chapter turn, Graphic bridge), Tutorials (Split-screen handoff, Window handoff), Premium (Depth push, Focus pull, Diagram morph, Motion match), Smooth (Cut, Crossfade, Dip to black or white, Through grey, Dissolve, Soft wipe, Quick fade), Wipes and shapes (Wipe, Wipe up, Corner wipe, Circle open, Circle close, Box, Iris, Blinds, Doors open, Diagonal), Motion (Slide, Push, Push up, Reveal, Zoom in, Squeeze, Whip pan, Spin) and Light and style (Blur, Light leak, Glitch, Flash, Film burn, Melt). Find a transition searches by name; Recent shows the ones you used, and the star on a tile keeps one at the top (kept in this browser). Then its length (0.2 to 1.2 seconds) and an optional whoosh. Each tile shows the transition on your own footage, and the video in the middle plays it at the cut as it will be made. Your brand uses your Brand Kit: Logo reveal shows your logo on your main colour at the cut, Brand sweep sweeps your colour across with your logo on it, Brand shapes slides two bands of your two colours over the cut, and Brand glow washes the cut in your second colour. With no logo, your channel name is shown instead; with no colours or logo set yet, they play as a crossfade (the picker links to Brand Kit). They look best at 0.6 to 1 second. Hide the cut is for cuts where a pause or a mistake was taken out: there's no blend, the next part simply starts a little closer (Invisible cut: straight away; Punch cut: it eases in over a third of a second), so the jump doesn't show. The next one goes back to normal, so closer and normal take turns. How much closer (104% to 118%, 110% to start) and Zoom towards my face (when Davnai finds your face; otherwise towards the upper middle, where the preview zooms too) replace the length. Apply to every cut gives every cut the same one. In the Transitions tool, Every cut takes any of the 55 for every cut you haven't set yourself (Back to straight cuts turns it off). The Transitions tool lists each cut and its transition. The video keeps its length: the transition is centred on the cut, so captions, pictures and the sound stay in time. The live preview draws the transition from still frames of the two sides of the cut, so it plays smoothly while the video loads; the made video uses the moving footage.
  • Picture strip: "Your video" shows small pictures of the video along each part, so you can find a moment by eye.
  • Movements play over a picture of your video at that moment. A text's own sound plays in the preview too. With captions at the bottom, Move it up lifts a text above them; turning bottom captions on lifts the texts that sit at the bottom.
  • Explain it (in Media or Text: the Explain it card, pick a frame and it is added at the playhead; or pick a picture or clip, then Show it → Explain it; or right-click a graphic → Explain it: shrink me beside this): you shrink into a frame while your point takes the screen, then grow back. With a blurred background, the preview blurs your moving video behind the frame, as in the made video. Frames: Phone frame, Side card, Corner circle, Top and bottom (tall videos always use Top and bottom). Beside you: a picture or clip, or a graphic from Text & Motion at that moment. How it moves: In (Shrink, Slide, Cut), Out (Grow back, Slide, Cut), Easing (Smooth, Snappy, Bounce), Behind (your Brand colour or a Blur of your video, or A picture from My images). Until end of sentence goes back to full when you finish the sentence.
  • Dark editor: the editor is always dark, whatever Appearance you chose; the sun button next to Undo makes it light for the editor only (the moon button makes it dark again).
  • Layout (computer): tools on the left, the video in the middle, and one panel on the right for the open tool or the selected piece. Under the video: Timeline | Words, play, Split, Delete, Ripple and Snap, then the tracks (Graphics, Text, B-roll, Main video, Voice, Music, Sound effects, Captions), Speed, Freeze and Detach audio (opens the part's Sound tab).
  • Tracks: each track's name has its buttons. The eye hides a track (Graphics, Text, B-roll, Captions): it's left out of the preview and the finished video, and shown faintly on the timeline. The lock locks a track: nothing on it can be picked, moved or changed until you unlock it (locking Main video protects its parts). The speaker mutes Voice, Music or Sound effects, in the finished video too. Add track adds another Graphics, Text or B-roll track on top (up to four of each); right-click a piece and choose Move to Text 2 (or another track) to put it there. A higher track sits on top. The cross removes an added track (what's on it goes back to the first one). Dragging tracks up or down to reorder them is Soon.
  • Words: what's said, like text in a document. Click a word, then shift-click or drag to the last one, and press Cut N words; the picture follows. Fillers ("um", "uh", a "Like," that opens a sentence) are struck through in gold and words said twice in red, but nothing goes until you choose Remove fillers or Remove repeats. Pauses show their length; click one, or Shorten pauses, to leave 0.4 seconds. Cut words fade; select them to bring them back.
  • Stock (Media → Stock): clips and pictures from the Davnai library first (marked DAVNAI; shared, so they use none of your storage), then free stock videos and photos from Pixabay, right inside the editor. Search in plain words or tap an idea taken from what you say at the playhead; results come in your video's shape first (Wide, Tall or Any shape) and 4K ones are marked. Click one to watch it on your video first: nothing changes until you press Show over my video (it plays on B-roll while you keep talking) or Put in (your video waits for it), or the + on a result. A clip you use is saved with your video (it counts towards your storage), so it still plays if it's taken off Pixabay later; its own sound is off. Select it to Find similar or Replace it. Nothing is written on the video; the tab says where clips come from, and you can choose to credit the source in the post's description (off at first). Photos you use are kept in My images.
  • Colour: six looks on your own frame (Natural, Bright, Cinematic, Warm, Black and white, Film), then Adjust: Light (Brightness, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows), Colour (Saturation, Warmth, Tint) and Detail (Sharpness, Vignette). Double-click a slider to put it back to 0; Reset clears the look. All clips or This part at the top: This part gives the part at the playhead (or the selected part) its own look; Same as all clips takes it away again and Use on all clips puts that part's look on every part. Splitting a part keeps its look on both halves. While it's open the video shows the look live with a line to drag for before and after (vignette included). Upload a LUT: your own colour look file (.cube, up to 8 MB); it's checked, kept with your account and used in the made video and Davnai's previews (the live preview shows the rest of the look). Remove takes it off. Colour by colour: pick Reds, Yellows, Greens, Cyans, Blues or Magentas and change just that colour's Hue, Saturation and Lightness (for example bluer skies or calmer greens); it shows in the finished video, the live preview shows the rest of the look. Curves: All, Red, Green or Blue; click the line to add a point and drag it up to brighten that part of the picture or down to darken it (an S shape adds contrast); double-click a point to take it off; Reset per curve or all. Curves show live in the preview. Both work for All clips or This part.
  • A part of your video (select it): Speed (with speed over time and Reverse), Sound and Colour tabs.
  • Words or a graphic (select it): Move (left, top, size, when it shows), Animation (way in and out) and Style. Keyframes and easing are on the Move tab.
  • Phone: the video, play and undo, the tool chips, the tracks with something on them, and a tray (Split, Speed, Freeze, Volume, Transition, Keyframe, Colour, Edit, Delete). Selecting words or a graphic shows its place and size; Edit opens all its settings.
  • Make video: choose the quality and shapes, then the video is made and you can follow it.
  • A version for each platform (in Make video, under What to make): tick YouTube, Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook Reels or LinkedIn. Each version is made in that platform's shape (16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Reels and TikTok, 1:1 for LinkedIn) and your calls to action are swapped to suit it: Subscribe with the YouTube logo on YouTube, Follow with that platform's own logo on the others. Like, comment and share and Link in bio stay in every version, at the same times. Each card lists what that version will show. Each version uses export minutes like any other video.
    • Change its calls to action (on a ticked version) changes that version alone: each call to action can be As set, Not in this version, or for Subscribe and Follow, either one.
    • Put each version in Approvals, ready to post to its platform (on to start): when a version is made it waits in Approvals as a post to that platform's connected account, with the video's title. Change the words there, approve, and it posts. Nothing posts without your OK; a platform you haven't connected keeps its version in your Library.
  • Several calls to action in one video: up to three (for example Subscribe at 0:15, Like, comment and share in the middle, Subscribe again at the end), each at its own time, in Text & graphics → Follow or subscribe button.

Where to find it

  • Video Studio → pick a video → Video editor.
  • The menu on any recording or edited video → Video editor.
  • Video editor in the window after an upload.
  • Keep editing on a video you made in the editor or with Finish my video (in the Library, on Home, or on the page after you press Make): the same timeline opens exactly as you left it, with every cut, caption, picture and transition. Saved edits you haven't made yet are under Unfinished edits in the Library.
  • B-roll, logo & call to action: its quick window's Open in the editor opens the editor with the Brand tool.
  • The AI Director's plan card in Davnai Agent → Editor: the editor opens with the plan on the timeline.
  • Join with other videos → Open in the editor: all the videos on the timeline.

Keyboard

Space plays or pauses. S splits at the playhead. Delete removes what's chosen. I and O mark the start and end of a section to cut (as many as you like); Escape stops marking. Left and right arrows move the playhead. Ctrl+Z undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes. Ctrl+D duplicates.

On a phone

The tools are a bar at the bottom; each opens from the bottom of the screen. Tap a part or picture on the timeline to change it. The timeline shows marks instead of lane names to give it more room.

Crop and turn a picture on the video

Select a picture or clip over your video. Crop on it shows four handles on its edges: drag them in, then Done. A small picture or reaction also has a round handle above it: drag it to turn it (it snaps straight and to quarter turns). The same choices are in the panel on the right (Crop and turn), and the preview and the made video match.

Will the video made match the preview?

Yes (owner, 25 October). What you see and hear in the editor is what's made:

  • Plays live in the preview, exactly as it's made: cuts, splits, the opening, the intro and outro (your Brand Kit's standard ones, a Director plan's, the logo card, or a picture or clip), text and graphics with their sounds, pictures and clips over or put into your video, transitions, speed (and speed over time, step by step as it's made), freeze frames, colour looks, captions, the watermark, covered parts, every call to action at the moment it will show, each part's volume and sound across cuts, the music (faded in and out, and lower while you talk) and your voiceover takes (your video's own sound lowered while they play).
  • Prepared by a video worker for the preview: a part played backwards, and Change my background. As soon as you switch one on, only that part (never the whole video) is made small and quick, usually in under a minute, and then plays in its place. Until then the video says Preparing this part… and plays it as it is; Try again shows if it couldn't be prepared. It uses no export minutes (up to 100 a day).
  • Applied when it's made (a browser can't do these live, so Make video lists them): clean sound, sharper picture, steady camera, colour evened out between videos, the voice changer, the sharpness slider and your voiceover cleaned up.

Make video shows what's in it in one line ("Made exactly as your preview: Intro · 6 texts · captions · music · outro"). Before anything starts, Davnai checks again: if the video made would have anything the preview didn't show, or leave out anything it did (for example a text in the very last second, which can't be placed), nothing is sent and it says what's different, so you can fix it first. Make video also waits while an intro or outro is still being put into the preview, or a part is still being prepared. An intro or outro whose design was deleted is taken out and the editor says so.

How do I…? (step by step)

Split, cut or trim a part

  1. Move the playhead to where you want to cut and press Split (or S).
  2. Tap the part on the timeline to select it.
  3. Press Delete to remove it (the gap closes), or drag its ends to trim it. Undo (Ctrl+Z) brings it back.

Play a part backwards (Reverse)

  1. Move the playhead to where the moment starts.
  2. Press Reverse under the video (or right-click the part → Reverse; on a phone, Reverse in the tools row). A part up to 30 seconds plays backwards; in a longer part, 3 seconds from the playhead become their own part and play backwards (drag its ends to change how much).
  3. The part's Speed tab shows Direction: Forwards / Backwards (reverse), and for a long part Reverse 3 s (or 5 s) from the playhead. A video worker prepares the part for the preview in a moment; then it plays backwards.

Speed up, slow down or ramp the speed

  1. Tap a part, then the Speed tab (or Speed under the video).
  2. Pick Slow 0.5x, Fast 2x and so on, or use the Speed slider.
  3. For speed that changes, open Change the speed over time and pick Ramp up, Ramp down or Hero moment.

Freeze a frame

  1. Move the playhead to the frame.
  2. Press Freeze under the video. Tap FREEZE on the timeline to set Hold for.

Change my background

  1. Tap a part of your video (Pro).
  2. Open Change my background on the right and pick Blur, Colour or Picture.
  3. A video worker prepares that part for the preview; then it plays with the new background.

Cover part of the picture

  1. Open Brand on the left.
  2. Press Cover a part and drag the box over what to hide (an old logo, a number, someone else's mark).
  3. Choose Blur it, Zoom in to crop it off or Cover it with my watermark, and when it shows.

Add music

  1. Open Audio on the left.
  2. Choose a track from the Davnai library or My music (press ▶ to listen).
  3. Set its volume; Lower the music automatically while someone speaks keeps your voice clear. The preview plays it as it's mixed.

Record your own voiceover

  1. Open Audio on the left (one recording at a time, not a join of several).
  2. Under Voiceover, press Record my voice (or Open my voiceover), and wear headphones.
  3. Move to where you want to start, press Record, speak, then Stop. The preview plays your takes.

Add captions

  1. Open Captions on the left and switch them on.
  2. Pick a style, font, colour and where they sit. They show on the video as they'll be made.

Add text, a title or a graphic

  1. Press Add text above the video (or T), type and press Enter.
  2. Or open Text on the left and drag a card (titles, name titles, counters, lists, callouts) onto the video.
  3. Select it to change its style, motion and timing on the right.

Add an effect or a sticker

  1. Open Effects on the left.
  2. Drag an effect (shake, glitch, blur, VHS, light leak) or a sticker onto the timeline at the moment you want.

Put a picture or clip in or over your video

  1. Open Media on the left (your files, or Stock).
  2. Drag it onto Your video to put it in (your video waits), or onto Over video to show it while you talk.
  3. Choose its Layout on the right (full screen, side by side, you in the corner…).

Edit by the words

  1. Open Words (on the left, or Timeline | Words under the video).
  2. Select words and press Cut N words, or use Remove fillers, Remove repeats or Shorten pauses.

Add a transition

  1. Tap the small marker on a cut on Your video, or open Transitions on the left.
  2. Pick one of the 55 transitions (Your brand's use your logo and colours) and its length. Apply to every cut gives them all the same one.

Boxes, cards, words and screens (the new transitions)

  • Frames and cards: you shrink into a rounded box and slide away while the next shot grows out of another (Into the frame), the picture flips like a card (Card flip), the camera dives into a window onto the next shot (Zoom through), the shot lifts off a stack (Deck), four strips slide away (Panels), or tiles flip one by one (Tiles).
  • Your brand: Brand frame is Into the frame with a border in your colour and your logo in the corner; Logo mask grows your logo until the next shot is seen through it.
  • Words: Word wipe sweeps a word across in your colour, Chapter turn turns the page and lands the chapter's title, Graphic bridge grows a number or short quote to fill the screen. Their words are filled in from the sentence you say next (the first big word, or a number you say); change them under the tiles.
  • Tutorials: Split-screen handoff slides the next shot in beside the first, then it takes over; Window handoff shrinks a screen recording into a window that slides away.
  • Premium (on paid plans): Depth push, Focus pull, Diagram morph and Motion match (choose which way the movement goes). On Free their tiles say Paid plans and link to the plans.
  • They start at 0.8 seconds. The video worker draws them over your video's own moving frames, exactly as the preview draws them: in the preview too, the side that is playing keeps moving inside the look.
  • Style (Smooth, Bold, Subtle) and Speed (Slow 1 s, Normal 0.6 s, Fast 0.35 s) set them in one tap. Fine-tune has Direction (for the looks that slide or lift: Into the frame, Brand frame, Window handoff, Deck, Motion match, and left or right for Word wipe), Intensity (how far things move), Easing (Soft landing, Snappy, Even) and Motion blur. Speed works for every transition; Style and Fine-tune are for these new looks.
  • Apply to similar cuts gives the same transition to the cuts of the same kind: where something was cut out, where you split the video, or where one video meets the next. Every cut gives it to all of them.

Sound at the cut and the B-roll bridge

In the same picker, under Sound at the cut:

  • Straight cut: picture and sound change together.
  • J-cut: sound early: you hear the next part before you see it, good where a new idea starts.
  • L-cut: sound carries on: your voice carries on over the next picture, good into B-roll or a reaction.
  • How long sets it, up to the shorter part beside the cut (and 2 seconds).
  • Bridge it with B-roll opens Stock (and your pictures and clips) at that cut: choose one with Over or Over my video and it plays over the cut, half before and half after (1.6 seconds, shorter when the parts are short), while your voice carries on under it.

Change the colour

  1. Open Colour on the left.
  2. Pick a look (Natural, Cinematic…) or use Adjust. This part gives one part its own look.

Add your logo, an intro and outro, or a call to action

  1. Open Brand on the left for your logo, watermark and call to action.
  2. For an intro or outro, open Text → Intro or Outro, or tap the + at either end of Main video.

Style the whole video at once

  1. Open Templates on the left.
  2. Pick one, then Use on my video. Undo puts everything back.

Davnai Agent to edit it

  1. Open Davnai on the left, or type in What do you want to make? in the top bar.
  2. Say what you want ("cut the pauses", "3 Shorts", "join my other videos"). The Director says back what it understood and asks if it needs to. Nothing is made until you approve.

Fix a word that was heard wrong

  1. Open Words, then double-click the word (or pause with Captions open and click it on the video).
  2. Type the right spelling and choose This one or All in this video; tick Always spell it this way to add it to Brand Kit → Your words.
  3. Find and fix a word (in Words) fixes a word everywhere at once and lists what you fixed, with Undo.

Join more videos to this one

  1. Open Media on the left, then Videos (or ask the Director "join my other videos").
  2. Press Add next to each video; drag them into the order they should play.

Can I make a part of my video the opening?

Select a part of your video: Use as the opening is at the top of its panel. Its first 15 seconds then play before everything else (the button shows The opening; press it again to take it out). It's also on the right-click menu.

Can I edit one of the AI Director's Shorts here?

Yes. On the Director's plan, Edit this Short opens that Short on its own: only its moments are kept, in its shape, with its captions and look. Make it with Make video. Show me on the Director's What changed moves the playhead to that moment while the plan is open here.

Can I choose the thumbnail when I make the video?

Yes, two ways: while editing, Brand on the left → Thumbnail; or in the Make window, the Shape, quality & thumbnail step. Choose Your own picture, then pick one from My images or Upload one from your computer (PNG, JPEG or WebP), or make one with AI in Image Studio. The made video uses it as its thumbnail; without one, Davnai uses the clearest frame. You can also change it after the video is made. On a phone, the minutes you have left show above the Make button.

What are the AI chat, Comparison, Steps and Point with an icon pieces?

New pieces in Text & Motion for teaching videos: AI chat (a chat window with a prompt that types itself out, and an optional reply such as "Example draft"), Comparison (two sides next to each other), Steps with arrows (WRITE → PLAN → LEARN) and Point with an icon. The AI Director adds them by itself when it fits what you say; you can add, change or remove them like any text.

What are the zoom blocks on the Graphics track?

The AI Director's camera moves: a Punch-in zoom on a key line and a Slow push-in over a story. Your video moves closer in the preview and in the made video. Drag a block to move it, or delete it.

How do I add an effect (shake, glitch, blur, VHS, light leak)?

Effects on the left. Pick Shake (a hit or a beat drop), Glitch (colour split and flicker), Blur (soften your video so words on top stand out), VHS (old tape lines, grain and colour fringes) or Light leak (a warm glow drifting across). It goes on the timeline at the playhead like any text: drag it to move it, pull its edges to make it longer or shorter, and set How strong (10 to 100) in its panel. Your video changes in the preview and the made video looks the same. Delete it to take it off.

How do I add a sticker?

Effects on the left → Stickers: Arrow, Star, Heart, Burst, Circle it, Tick, Cross, Speech bubble, Sparkle and Lightning. Click one (or drag it onto the video) and it goes on at the playhead. Drag it on the video to place it and pull its corner to resize it, like your own text. In its panel pick the Colour (your brand colour, yellow, coral, teal, violet, white or black) and, for the Burst and the Speech bubble, the Word. Stickers pop in, wobble gently and shrink away; the lines (arrow, circle, tick, cross) draw themselves on.

How do I change my background?

Change my background is part of Pro (on other plans it shows a lock and Pro). Select a part of your video on the timeline, then open Change my background on the right and pick Blur, Colour (from the colours shown) or Picture (one of your pictures from My images). You stay in front; only what's behind you changes, in that part. Do the same for other parts; each one shows BG on the timeline. Davnai finds you in every frame, which a browser can't do live, so a video worker prepares just that part for the preview (usually in under a minute; Preparing this part… shows on the video meanwhile), then the preview plays it with the new background, as it will be made. Splitting a part keeps its background on both halves.

It works on up to 10 minutes of a video (your admin may set a different limit), and those minutes count toward your plan's export minutes. It works best with one person, clearly lit, in front of a plain or tidy background.

How do I add an animated GIF?

Effects on the left → Stickers → Animated GIFs. What's popular shows first; type to search (applause, wow, subscribe). Click one and it goes over your video at the playhead, in a corner, playing again for 3 seconds. Drag it on the video to move it, pull its corner to resize it, drag its ends on the timeline for longer, or pick another layout on the right (full screen, beside you, a pop). GIFs have no sound. Only GIFs rated for all audiences are shown. A GIF you use is saved with your videos, so it keeps working even if it's later removed from Giphy. The search is powered by GIPHY; nothing is added to your video.

How do I add sound effects, change my voice or line things up with the music's beat?

All three are in Audio:

  • Voice changer: Your voice, Deeper, Higher, Robot, Radio or Echo, on your voice for the whole video. The video keeps its length; you hear it in the finished video (the live preview plays your voice as recorded).
  • Beat sync (choose music first): switch on Show the music's beats and Davnai listens to the track and finds its tempo. The beats show as lines on the Music track, pictures and clips you move snap to them, and Line up text, effects and stickers with the beat moves each piece near a beat onto it.
  • Sound effects: Whoosh, Hit, Punch, Riser, Click, Ding, Boing, Record scratch, Shimmer and Tick. Press play to listen and + to add it at the playhead; drag its block to move it. Muting the Sound effects track leaves them out.

How do I use a green screen or remove a background?

Select a picture or clip over your video (small on top, a reaction, or full screen) and find Background:

  • Green screen or Blue screen: the green (or blue) behind the person goes see-through so your video shows instead. Amount takes out more or fewer of the colours near it; turn it down if parts of the person disappear. The live preview shows it.
  • Remove background: Davnai finds the person or thing that stands out and removes everything behind it, with no green screen needed. It works on pictures and on clips up to 30 seconds on screen, and you see it in the finished video (the preview shows the picture as it is).
  • Keep it puts the background back.

How is the editor laid out?

Four areas, each with one job:

  • Left: the tools: Davnai (ask the Director, find mistakes and pauses), Media, Text, Words, Captions, Audio, Effects, Transitions, Colour and Brand (your channel style is here too).
  • Middle: your video, in the shape you're making, with play, the time and that shape right under it. Bigger video (the arrows button, or F) gives it more room. Nothing else sits on the video unless you select something.
  • Right: the settings of what you selected. The basics are open; extras such as Crop and turn, Look, Background and Keyframes are closed sections that say what's switched on inside them (for example "Look · 60% · Mirrored"). Click one to open it. With nothing selected it shows the open tool.
  • Bottom: the timeline. Only tracks with something on them show (an empty one appears while you drag something in). Your voice, music and sound effects share one slim Audio track: click it to see each on its own row, and Close audio to fold it again. Hide, lock and mute show when you point at a track's name. Split and Delete are always there; Duplicate, Speed, Freeze and Detach audio appear when something is selected. The word-by-word Captions track shows while Captions is open, and Words on the left swaps the timeline for your spoken words.
  • Top: back, the name, undo and redo, Shape, quality, Preview and Make video.
